What’s the Point?

Oftentimes, we start something new. A new job, a new hobby, a new relationship.

Anything to improve our lives.

We do it for a couple of months, then decide: What’s the Point?

I am at that stage with Suikerbekkie. I started this company in December. It is only seven months later, but already I feel: What’s the Point?

I started Suierbekkie to make money, yes. But my main focus is to share a little bit of magic with the world. For people to realize, yes, we live in a shitty world, but it is still beautiful. People are just people, and we need each other to find happiness.

Seven months later, and I am super broke. I haven’t sold many items yet. I feel like a failure.

But, what can I do to change this? Just because something doesn’t work out in the first seven months doesn’t mean it will never work out.

Just because you are broke today, doesn’t mean you will be broke next month, or the year after that.

I look at the richest of the rich and wonder how they accomplished it. How did they overcome their hurdles? The answer: They persevered.

Jeff Bezos did not grow up rich. He was born to a teenage mom and a deadbeat dad. Yet, he is a billionaire today.

Starbucks founder Howard Schultz grew up in a housing complex for the poor.

Oprah Winfrey was born into a low-income family in Mississippi.

Ralph Lauren's fashion brand is easily recognizable. But did you know that there was a time when the iconic fashion designer couldn’t even afford clothes?

J.K. Rowling shared her struggles as a single parent before the Harry Potter books turned her into the world’s highest-paid author. “I remember 20 years ago not eating so my daughter would eat,” she said. “I remember nights when there was literally no money.”

These people did not let the dreaded What’s the Point get them down. They pushed through. Love them, or hate them, these people are inspirations. None of these people had “daddy” money. They all had to persist on their own.

What is your Suikerbekkie moment? How are you going to overcome your What’s the Point moment? 🍃
